Give each day a centre of gravity
For a first visit, I would group the old town and river into one outing, then give another day to the neighbourhood around the hotel.
This is a planning approach, not a fixed sightseeing checklist. Put your must-see places on a map before filling the gaps; repeated journeys back and forth can consume the time you hoped to spend exploring.
Build an old-town day around the river
Wat Pho, the Grand Palace area and the Chao Phraya are a useful starting point for a historic-centre day.
Choose the visits that interest you, then check admission arrangements and the river connection before departure. Leave room for a meal and a pause rather than assuming every temple visit will fit into one morning.
Keep a neighbourhood day in the plan
A Bangkok trip need not become a sequence of long transfers. I would reserve time for restaurants, shops and a slower morning around the chosen base.
If the hotel pool is one reason for booking, give it an actual place in the itinerary. Paying for facilities and never returning before bedtime is a different purchase from a stay with afternoons at the hotel.
Plan the station-to-door segment
Use the official BTS map to understand the rail network, then check the station exit and hotel entrance separately. A nearby station is only part of a luggage journey.
For river trips, check the operator and boarding point close to the visit. Avoid building a timed reservation around an unverified connection.
Make arrival day forgiving
Save the ambitious outing for a day after arrival.
Confirm luggage storage and check-in arrangements, choose a nearby first meal, and keep one optional activity rather than three commitments. Early room access should be confirmed with the hotel; an early flight does not by itself include early check-in.
Choose a base after sketching the days
With the day plan in hand, compare Asok, Thonglor, the old town and Rangnam in the neighbourhood article linked below.
That article handles the location trade-offs; the individual reviews cover rooms and booking checks. Start with the four hotels here only when their locations fit your own itinerary.
